The Media

Austin is a medium sized city with a medium-market media servicing it. The primary daily newspaper is the Austin American-Statesman. There are several local newspapers and magazines that cover specialized areas of interest in more depth than the Statesman, notably the music and entertainment reporting of the Austin Chronicle.

The major broadcast television networks, along with the superlative PBS station (home of the famous "Austin City Limits") are represented. The local cable company is Time-Warner.

Broadcast radio is similar to that found in almost any market, with a broad range of music styles embraced by the FM band, and with AM radio almost exclusively talk radio (with the exception of some Spanish language stations). The UT-sponsored public radio station is KUT. and is a nationally-recognized star of PBS.
