This is the area that is really known as downtown Austin. Austin's downtown is bustling with a lot of things to do and it is definitely a thriving bundle of energy. Austin tries to encourage and engage ALL of its residents to enjoy all that Austin has to offer. The people in Austin are very friendly and it is easy to strike up a conversation with almost anyone.
When Austin was being planned, a lot of care went into making sure that there were lots of trails and hiking paths. Austin has about 10 mile of hike trails using Lady Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake) as a main focal point of these trails. These trails make it possible for all residents to enjoy going for a walk in a peaceful outdoor setting now that beats walking on hard concrete city streets.
Whenever I am in the downtown area, Whole Foods is one of my favorite stops. It never gets old because there is so much to do there and it is the ideal place to eat lunch or dinner at any hour of the day. Your variety of choices makes you feel like you are a kid in a candy store. The downtown area has so many condominiums that make it easy for residents to live among the excitement of the nightlife on 6th Street and wildlife around Lady Bird Lake. You won't find a better downtown area in any City in the United States.
